6 Best Zookeeper and Wildlife Caretaker Movies

By Vlad Zakh · June 1, 2026

The devoted, often dangerous work of caring for wild animals has powered some of cinema’s most heartfelt dramas and family films. In Born Free (1966): A game warden couple raises an orphaned lion cub before facing the difficult choice of returning her to the wild. Worth seeking out is We Bought a Zoo (2011): A grieving widower and his children take on the challenge of restoring a rundown zoo to reopen it to the public.
