Trinidad and Tobago Drama thought provoking
Trinidad and Tobago’s small but growing film scene ranges from a soca-scored romantic musical to a tense queer coming-of-age drama built on Jab Molassie folklore. Play the Devil follows a closeted teenager whose mentor, a wealthy older man, becomes dangerous, Green Days by the River sets a boy in 1950s Trinidad between two women, Bazodee upends an arranged marriage when the bride falls for a soca musician, and The Cutlass has a kidnapped hiker outwitting her captor in the rainforest. Moko Jumbie and God Loves the Fighter round out the list.
