Croatia Drama thought provoking
Croatia’s best recent work tends to be small and character-driven. Fine Dead Girls has a lesbian couple facing a hostile landlady, The Blacks has wartime atrocities by a special forces unit resurfacing as a conspiracy, and Vegetarian Cannibal follows a loner’s isolation curling into disturbing fantasy. Metastases, Halima’s Path, Number 55, Quit Staring at My Plate, The Constitution, The High Sun and Sonja and the Bull round out the list.
