8 Best New Movies of 2026 (So Far)

By Vlad Zakh · August 24, 2026

Project Hail Mary and The Odyssey are the biggest swings of the year so far. Obsession is the opposite story, a $750,000 horror-comedy that became one of the most profitable films in years. In Michael (2026): Jaafar Jackson steps into his uncle’s shoes for a biopic that leans into the music more than the tabloids. Just as strong is Toy Story 5 (2026): A fifth entry that finds a genuinely new angle on Woody and the gang instead of just repeating the formula.
