Morocco Drama thought provoking
Moroccan cinema has become one of North Africa’s most active industries, willing to tackle sex work, radicalisation and single motherhood more directly than its neighbours, often meeting government pushback. A Thousand Months has a boy told his jailed father is on pilgrimage, The Blue Caftan tests a tailor’s decades-long marriage with his attraction to an apprentice, and Ali Zaoua follows Casablanca street kids burying a friend. Marock, Horses of God, Much Loved, Razzia, Adam and Sofia round out the list.
