Ethiopia Drama thought provoking
Ethiopia’s small but growing film industry has produced a handful of recognized dramas in the last decade, mostly confronting tradition and rural hardship directly. Lamb has a grieving boy bonding with a pet lamb his relatives plan to slaughter, Fig Tree has a Jewish-Ethiopian teenager hiding her Christian boyfriend during the civil war, and Crumbs is a surreal post-apocalyptic wander. Price of Love, Difret, Faya Dayi and Rebuni round out the list.
