I put this list together after a genuinely embarrassing number of “remember this?” conversations with friends. These are the films that define what “the 90s” feels like in my memory, not necessarily the best-reviewed movies of the decade, just the ones that hit differently when you rewatch them now.

02 The dinosaurs still hold up better than half of what came after them. I rewatch this every couple of years just for the practical effects.
03 Jim Carrey at his most unhinged and cartoonish, in the best possible way.
04 The first fully computer-animated feature film, and it still holds together emotionally better than most Pixar films that followed.
05 Peak 90s summer blockbuster: aliens, a big speech, and Will Smith punching things.
06 Technically a show, not a movie, but I'm including it here because no 90s nostalgia list feels honest without it, skip if you want films only.
07 A perennial rewatch, less a Christmas movie to me than a pure 90s comfort object.
08 Technically about the 70s, made in the 90s, and somehow nostalgic for both eras at once.
