Al St. John brought an acrobatic, rubber-limbed presence to early Hollywood and became one of silent comedy’s most prolific slapstick performers. Tillie’s Punctured Romance has a country girl swindled by a con man, Bright Lights has a small-town rube loose in a big-city nightclub, and Fatty and Mabel Adrift has newlyweds beset by rivals in a storm. He Did and He Didn’t, His Prehistoric Past and Mabel’s Strange Predicament round out the list.
