6 Best Trailer Park and Rural Poverty Drama Movies

By Vlad Zakh · June 3, 2026

The resilience and hardship of life on society’s margins has powered some of cinema’s most unflinching and empathetic dramas. In Sling Blade (1996): A mentally disabled man released from a psychiatric hospital forms a protective bond with a young boy and his mother. Another standout is The Florida Project (2017): A precocious young girl and her struggling mother scrape by in a budget motel in the shadow of Disney World.
