6 Best Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winners

By Vlad Zakh · March 28, 2026

Sundance’s top honor has long served as a launchpad for American independent cinema’s most distinctive and daring new voices. In Whiplash (2014): An ambitious young drummer is pushed to his limits by an abusive, perfectionist music instructor. Another standout is CODA (2021): The only hearing member of a deaf family must choose between her music dreams and her family’s needs.
