6 Best Puppetry and Puppeteer Movies

By Vlad Zakh · May 14, 2026

The uncanny artistry and hidden control of puppetry has powered some of cinema’s most inventive and imaginative films. Being John Malkovich has a puppeteer finding a portal into an actor’s mind, Team America: World Police sends marionette agents against terrorism, Anomalisa breaks a man’s sense of sameness with one voice, and Strings stages a prince’s revenge among visible strings. The Dark Crystal and The Muppet Movie round out the list.
