6 Best Prep School and Boarding School Movies

By Vlad Zakh · May 15, 2026

The rigid tradition and quiet rebellion of elite boarding school life has powered some of cinema’s most memorable coming-of-age dramas. In Dead Poets Society (1989): An unconventional English teacher inspires his prep school students to seize the day, defying rigid tradition. Just as strong is Scent of a Woman (1992): A prep school student’s job assisting a blind, volatile retired officer leads to an unforgettable weekend in New York.
