Total solitude after civilization collapses makes for gripping survival stories. I Am Legend has a scientist immune to a virus searching for a cure, Z for Zachariah has a young woman on an uncontaminated farm when two other survivors arrive, and The Quiet Earth has a scientist waking up possibly the last person alive. A Boy and His Dog, The Omega Man and The World, the Flesh and the Devil round out the six.
