8 Best Outbreak and Pandemic Thrillers

By Vlad Zakh · February 12, 2026

Long before real pandemics hit the headlines, these films were exploring our fears about disease and collapse. Contagion has scientists racing to a vaccine, Train to Busan and World War Z turn outbreaks into zombie action, and Cargo has an infected father looking for a safe home for his baby in the Australian outback. I Am Legend, 28 Days Later, Outbreak and The Andromeda Strain round out the eight.
