6 Best Identity Theft and Impersonation Movies

By Vlad Zakh · June 8, 2026

The unsettling thrill of stolen identities and daring impersonations, whether played for laughs or dead serious, has powered some of cinema’s most gripping thrillers. In Catch Me If You Can (2002): A brilliant young con artist forges checks and impersonates professionals while an FBI agent doggedly pursues him. Also notable is The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999): A calculating young man ingratiates himself with a wealthy heir before assuming his identity through murder.
