6 Best Van Johnson Movies

By Vlad Zakh · February 9, 2026

Van Johnson became one of MGM’s most popular wartime leading men, his easygoing, all-American charm winning over home-front audiences. Battleground endures the Bastogne siege, The Caine Mutiny exposes a captain’s paranoia at a court-martial, State of the Union strains a presidential candidate’s marriage, and The Last Time I Saw Paris unravels a writer’s marriage in postwar Paris. Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo and A Guy Named Joe round out the list.
