6 Best Thelma Ritter Movies

By Vlad Zakh · January 21, 2026

Thelma Ritter turned wisecracking supporting roles into an art form, and her dry, working-class wit made her one of the best-loved character actresses of classic Hollywood. Rear Window convinces a wheelchair-bound photographer of a murder, Pickup on South Street steals government microfilm, Pillow Talk shares a party line, and Birdman of Alcatraz makes a lifer an expert on birds. All About Eve and A Letter to Three Wives round out the list.
