6 Best Michael Gough Movies

By Vlad Zakh · March 5, 2026

Michael Gough brought distinguished, unsettling versatility to British film, equally at home in Hammer horror and a beloved late-career role as a loyal butler. Batman (1989) is the butler. The Phantom of the Opera haunts a London opera house, Konga turns a chimpanzee into a giant monster, Horrors of the Black Museum is a lurid chiller, and Sleepy Hollow investigates beheadings tied to a headless horseman legend. The Horse’s Mouth rounds out the list.
