6 Best Fred MacMurray Movies

By Vlad Zakh · January 25, 2026

Fred MacMurray spent decades as a dependable Hollywood leading man before proving, late in his career, how convincingly he could play real moral weakness. The Apartment is that late turn, an executive borrowing a lonely office worker’s flat. The Absent-Minded Professor invents a gravity-defying substance, Follow Me, Boys! has a scoutmaster mentoring a town’s boys, The Shaggy D.A. turns a lawyer into a dog, Double Indemnity plots murder for insurance, and The Caine Mutiny rounds out the list.
