10 Best Swedish Movies to Watch

Sweden Arthouse slow and atmospheric thought provoking

Ingmar Bergman set the template for Sweden’s patient, interior style decades ago, and it’s still visible in what the country makes now, from a vampire story dressed as a coming-of-age film to a dinner-party satire about status anxiety. Play is an uncomfortable, fact-based drama about schoolyard robberies, Border follows a customs officer whose uncanny sense of smell leads into folklore, Together is a gentle 1970s commune comedy-drama, and Show Me Love is a tender small-town romance between two girls. Let the Right One In, Force Majeure, The Square, A Man Called Ove and Fanny and Alexander round out the list.
