Armenia Arthouse slow and atmosphericthought provoking
Sergei Parajanov’s hypnotic, tableau-driven style still defines Armenian cinema’s international reputation, even though the industry has stayed small. Nahapet has a genocide survivor rebuilding a life and an orchard, We Are, Our Mountains turns a shepherd’s family quarrel into a comic parable of Armenian identity, and The Color of Pomegranates is the visual landmark. Songs of Solomon, Symphony No. 42, Yeva, Amerikatsi and Should the Wind Drop round out the list.
