7 Best Alec Guinness Movies

By Vlad Zakh · January 12, 2026

Alec Guinness brought chameleonic, understated precision to every part, whether playing eight members of one family or a wise old Jedi knight. Star Wars gave him Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Bridge on the River Kwai has a British commander whose pride helps his captors build a bridge, and Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago are his epic supporting turns. The Ladykillers, The Lavender Hill Mob and Kind Hearts and Coronets are the Ealing comedies.
