6 Best Painter and Artist Biopics

By Vlad Zakh · February 13, 2026

Few subjects test a biopic’s ability to capture inner torment and creative vision like the life of a painter, and these films rise to the challenge. In Loving Vincent (2017): An investigation into Vincent van Gogh’s death is told through a fully hand-painted animated film. Another standout is Lust for Life (1956): A dramatization follows Vincent van Gogh’s turbulent life, mental illness, and singular artistic vision.
