6 Best Fake Heiress and Social Climbing Movies

By Vlad Zakh · June 14, 2026

Climbing into high society by charm, reinvention or outright deception makes for delicious drama. Working Girl has a secretary posing as an executive, Maid in Manhattan has a hotel maid mistaken for a wealthy guest, and The Great Gatsby has a self-made millionaire throwing lavish parties for one lost love. Trading Places swaps a street hustler and a broker as a cruel experiment, while My Fair Lady and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes show how old the game is.
