6 Best Escaped Convict on the Run Movies

By Vlad Zakh · June 11, 2026

The desperate cat-and-mouse thrill of a fugitive staying one step ahead of the law has fueled some of cinema’s most tense chase thrillers. In Cool Hand Luke (1967): A rebellious prisoner’s repeated escape attempts from a brutal chain gang make him a legend among his fellow inmates. Just as strong is Escape from Alcatraz (1979): An inmate at the supposedly escape-proof Alcatraz prison plots a meticulous breakout.
