6 Best Boot Camp and Military Training Movies

By Vlad Zakh · April 24, 2026

The brutal, transformative crucible of military basic training has powered some of cinema’s most intense character studies about discipline and breaking points. In Full Metal Jacket (1987): Marine recruits endure brutal basic training before being thrust into the chaos of the Vietnam War. Equally memorable is An Officer and a Gentleman (1982): A troubled Navy candidate’s grueling officer training is shaped by a demanding drill instructor and a local romance.
