6 Best Book Editor and Publishing Industry Movies

By Vlad Zakh · June 14, 2026

Writers and editors have a delicate, often fraught relationship, and these films dig right into it. Genius has a brilliant but undisciplined novelist leaning on his devoted editor, Can You Ever Forgive Me? follows a struggling biographer forging letters from famous authors to pay her bills, and The Words has a novelist publishing a stranger’s manuscript as his own. Julie & Julia, Miss Potter and Wonder Boys complete the six.
