6 Best Art Restoration and Authentication Movies

By Vlad Zakh · August 25, 2026

Restorers and authenticators are patient people, and these films are drawn to that obsessive care. The Duke follows a working-class taxi driver tried for stealing a priceless portrait, Tim’s Vermeer has an inventor trying to recreate a Vermeer with only seventeenth-century tools, and Finding Vivian Maier tracks the mysterious photographer behind an incredible trove of pictures. The Christophers, from 2026, brings in a family of forgers.
